Cane Toad Lover (Spanaway, WA)
I just recently got my 550t as a replacement for a Colorado 400t. The topo maps are the same, the user interface is similar, but that is where it stops. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the Colorado, but REI doesn’t carry it anymore. On to the Oregon. I love it. It is the simplest piece of electronic equipment I own (and I own an electric razor). I have not had the problems that other users seem to have had. It works great in all conditions, and mine works well under trees (light-medium). I think the geotagging feature with pictures is awesome… (more reviews here)

B. Mcmullan “MaqAtaq” (Houston, TX United States)
I ordered the Garmin 550 for a deployment to Iraq. This GPS does everything I want a GPS to do. It even tracks satellites indoors if you are under a thin roof, and I forsee it having NO trouble maintaining at least 20m accuracy in the woods. The compass is very accurate as well, and I have checked it against my military compass. I have seen GPS systems that have trouble with compass accuracy while standing still,… (more reviews here)

greg gore (nashville, tn usa)
bought the oregon and the city navigator software and set out on a 4500 mile hunting/sightseeing trip. I did need some help from the garmin folks to get it set up, but after this small headache I found the 400 to be a superb on and off road navigator. It’s everything I had hoped it would be. I threw my magellan away. If you buy the mounting device for your vehicle expect it to work but you will have trouble with the power cord. It’s not made for the 400 but you can buy it and go by wal-mart or target and buy a power cord for a verizon phone and it will work perfectly. After driving 4500 miles and days hunting in Colorado I have not one complaint with the device… (more reviews here)

CV Shelhamer (Bozeman, MT)
I have worked with a number of Garmin GPS receivers in my instruction programs. I readed a number of reviews and wanted to provide some comments. The accuracy of the receiver was tested against a Garmin 76 MapC, and Garmin 60Map. The receiver were set side beside for 30 minutes with WASS enabled. The latitude differed .00011 from the 76 and .00005 from the 60, longitude varied .00003 on each model. Hence, I have to reject the reviews that say the Oregon is not as accurate. I did find that when over zoomed the track did not line up exactly with the streets and road background that came with the receiver… (more reviews here)

Excellent and versatile GPS that I use for geocaching, driving, mountain biking, and hiking. I previously owned the Venture Cx and the display cracked due to my carelessness in the airline luggage. I upgraded to the new Legend HCx with the high sensitivity receiver and this unit significantly outperforms the older units. The new receiver fixes your location much faster and provides much better signal coverage. I noticed this as soon as I turned the Legend HCx on, as I was able to get a fix inside my house… (more reviews here)

This is my second Garmin GPS. I was the first kid on my block to get their original eTrex and, at the time, it was a super help for someone who spends many days afield each year. Suddenly, wandering around became do-able for someone w/o orienteering training. I bought this unit because I was looking for quicker acquisition of satellites and better reception under the tree canopy… (more reviews here)

Dan R. Clement “Danno” (San Diego, CA)
If you are reading this and the other reviews of the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx then you are doing your homework and wondering if this GPS is as good as all the hype makes it out to be. The short answer is YES! I have an old Garmin 12 Map which has served me well, but was getting a bit long in the tooth. I wanted something a bit smaller, lighter, with color screen and was water tight. The Vista HCx meets all of these needs and so many more. It is small in size, but with a fairly big and bright screen (easily readable in the sun) for its size… (more reviews here)

Steve S (Northern Virginia, USA)
I purchased my Garmin GPSmap 60CSx in June 2006 from Amazon, because they had the best price available ($100 less than any place else I could find). I also purchased and installed Garmin MapSource USA Topo software on my 60CSx. I recently returned from a 10 day canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which is in northern Minnesota adjacent to the US-Canada border. I paddled and portaged over 100 miles, and used my Garmin GPSmap 60CSx throughout the trip. It performed flawlessly!… (more reviews here)

G. Lawrence “gplawrence” (San Francisco, CA USA)
So I finally got around to upgrading my trusty 3 year old Garmin 12XL to a new GPSMAP 76. I played with one of the Magellan 330s at the local store for comparison but found that once again I simply prefer the Garmin user interfaces. I also picked up the MetroGuide CD. I figured if I was going to upgrade to a mapping GPS, I’d really want richly detailed maps. Surprisingly, I’ve experienced no buyer’s remorse whatsoever. The GPSMAP 76 is nothing short of miraculous! Garmin is to be commended for the improvements they’ve made to their product line over the years… (more reviews here)
